Movie Releases Spring 2017

If like us you are avid film buffs you will be aware there are some great releases coming over the next 3 months. We are a tad excited for the new Star Wars later in the year, the new Paddington (2) and also the news that Harrison Ford is returning for his final Indiana Jones.

To keep you going until these monumental releases (well okay maybe not Paddington but we do love Ben Whishaw) here is a little round-up of what is hitting the big screen near you very soon!

1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2

We are so excited! The team (Zoe, David, Bradley, Vin) are back to save the galaxy, Star Lord (Chris Pratt) will meet his father (Kurt Russell) and Groot is even cuter as a baby! The one-liners in this film along with the amazing CGI make it worth a watch and if you haven’t seen the first one, it is definitely worth a watch! Make sure you check out the soundtrack too – its good, really good! Release: April.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Tales

Our favourite pirates are back with a bang! Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally all return to the big screen with cast including Javier Bardem! Still remember the original where he is on the top of his sinking boat? These adventures just keep getting better and better. Release: May.

3.The Mummy

We love these films and were saddened to hear that Brendan Fraser was leaving but what a replacement! Tom Cruise one of our best loved actors has taken over the helm and injecting a whole new life into these. Expect more stunts, more action, more mummies! The mummy is played by the totally infectious Sofia Boutella (Star Trek) and Russell Crowe joins the team too – treble the A-lister! Release: June.

4. King Arthur -Legend of the Sword

It is Guy Ritchie’s turn to take this tale and see what he can do with it. Several have tried to work this legend into something amazing but never quite hitting the mark so we are a little intrigued to see if Guy can turn this into something worth talking about – no wonder he has cast Jude Law and Eric Bana alongside Charlie Hunnam for this epic. His previous movies have never failed to disappoint and if Sherlock is anything to go by, this will be a film that finally capitalises and gives the legend the credit it so rightly deserves. Release: May.

5.Baywatch

We could not do this without mentioning Baywatch! Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson takes over from the Hoff in the lead (although David does make a cameo), Zac Efron brings the eye candy and there are plenty of red swim-suited ladies to keep the boys happy. This does have a story behind it and if the trailers are anything to go by, certainly worth a watch! Release: May

6. Alien Covenant

We are saving the best til last! One of the most spoken about and controversial series in movie history. The first was brilliant, the second good, third okay. Promethous (again Ridley Scott) was the most promising since the original and Michael Fassbender alongside Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce return from that cast for this. Alien fans all over the globe are whipping themselves up in a frenzy over this hotly anticipated film. The trailer promises the best yet, although it does look slightly darker (and scarier) than it’s predecessors. Will they keep their legions of fans happy? We shall wait to see! Release: May

That will keep you busy in popcorn and hot dogs for a while!
