Kenneth Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot in Death On The Nile

Agatha Christie’s legendary crime novel ‘Death on the Nile’ is being brought to the big screen by the same production team that adapted Christie’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.

Sticking to the original plot, the movie depicts the journey of Belgian detective Hercule Poirot aboard an Egyptian cruise on the River Nile. According to the movie’s official description, what was supposed to be leisure time for the detective turns into a search for a murderer of a cut-short couple’s idyllic honeymoon.

Set in an epic landscape of desert and the majestic Giza pyramids, Poirot will reveal a tale of unbridled passion and jealousy within a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travellers.

The main star of the movie, the iconic detective Poirot, is played by five-time Oscar-nominee Kenneth Branagh. The Irish-born British actor returns to portray the detective for the second time, continuing his role since ‘Murder in the Orient Express’.

The rest of the cast are also acclaimed actors and actresses including four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening, Tom Bateman, Russell Brand, Gal Gadot, Ali Fazal, and Dawn French.

The production team includes Kenneth Branagh himself as the director with a screenplay by Michael Green. The two of them previously worked on ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ together.

The audience can expect this sequel to have the same style and aesthetics as the first movie. In an interview with Associated Press, Branagh has also hinted that this won’t be the last time they will work together for making Christie’s novel to life.

The release of ‘Death on the Nile’ has been delayed many times, but it will finally come to cinemas on the 11th February, 2022.
