Hawkyns by Atul Kochhar: Foxy Dining Review

We had heard great things about Atul Kochhar’s latest culinary venture, and the fact it is on our doorstep made this an even more appealing treat. Who needs the bright lights of the big smoke when you can visit a modern Coaching Inn within Zone 9. That’s Amersham in Bucks to the non-habitats of Metroland. Situated within The Crown Hotel in the Old Town the restaurant offers a variety of dishes wish Asian flare and modern presentation.

As it all looked so appetizing we both opted for the tasting menu, as this is what chef wants to show off … and boy did they deliver. From the mango chutney with cumin to the sea bass with crispy skin that just melted in the mouth this was superb. He had the chicken course for main where I opted for the fennel scented lamb chop. It was a tough decision but the tandoori chicken in sauce just beat the lamb on taste.

Despite being 5 courses the portions were just the right size and filling enough to not leave you feeling bloated. Definitely a good introduction to Kochhar’ s style and delicious Indian food created the Michelin way.

We will be back.
