To celebrate we have an exclusive and fun Q & A for you from cast member Lori Hayley Fox who plays mum in Dirty Dancing, Marjorie Houseman.

You play Marjorie Houseman, mother to Baby and Lisa in Dirty Dancing The Classic Story on Stage. What do you enjoy most about the role?

I really enjoyed the relationship that Marjorie has with the rest of her family. I also think it’s great that she’s excited being at Kellerman’s for the summer.

Are there any similarities between Marjorie and your own mum?

Yes, actually. We’’, firstly my mum is American, also my mother is very funny and kind. She wears the trousers in the family but lets my dad think that he does. I think Marjorie is like that too.

Do you approve of Marjorie’s wardrobe? What’s your favourite item of clothing you wear in the production?

My favourite is the Waltz and Finale dress. I get to feel very girly in it. I do approve of her wardrobe. She often wears trousers which was ‘new’ for middle class housewives in the early sixties.

You’ve also played the role of Donna in Mamma Mia the Musical – how do the two mother roles compare? (i.e. very different characters, but any similarities?)

They are both mums who completely love and adore their daughters and would do anything for them. However, Marjorie is far more conservative and stable, Donna was a sixties rock chick and a bit of a wild child.

Are you as much of a mum to the company offstage as you are on?

Absolutely! My nickname is affectionately ‘Moma Fox’ and I love it. (Foxy Deer – high five the name!).
